Golestan Bolbol Dress Ring
From £1,950
Final price confirmed at commission.
The nightingale (بلبل, bolbol) singing to the rose is one of Persian poetry's most enduring images: longing made beautiful, love made audible. I designed the Golestan Bolbol Dress Ring to carry that image on the hand, translating a motif from Safavid court miniatures into a sculptural occasion piece for the contemporary British wearer.

The Story
The nightingale (بلبل, bolbol) singing to the rose is one of Persian poetry's most enduring images: longing made beautiful, love made audible. I designed the Golestan Bolbol Dress Ring to carry that image on the hand, translating a motif from Safavid court miniatures into a sculptural occasion piece for the contemporary British wearer. Cast in 18ct yellow gold, the ring features a raised oval cluster at its centre. Five cushion-cut Persian turquoise cabochons (Grade A, Neyshabur, approximately 4mm each) are set within a blooming open-petal framework, each petal individually formed and polished to catch the light. A single pavé-set row of white diamonds (E-F, VS, 0.12ct total) traces the inner edge of the cluster, representing starlight in the garden at night. The band is gently domed, textured with a subtle hammered finish referencing ancient Persian metalwork. This is a ring for evenings that deserve to be remembered. The turquoise brings the sky of Iran to a dinner table in London; the gold holds it there. I make each piece to order so the proportions suit the wearer precisely.
