Golestan Boteh Stacking Ring
The Boteh (بته) is one of the oldest motifs in Persian art: a teardrop form with a curving tip, representing a cypress tree bent by wind, a leaf, or a flame depending on whom you ask. The Persians used it in textiles, tilework, and miniature painting for centuries before it travelled the Silk Road to Kashmir and eventually became what the West calls the paisley.

The Story
The Boteh (بته) is one of the oldest motifs in Persian art: a teardrop form with a curving tip, representing a cypress tree bent by wind, a leaf, or a flame depending on whom you ask. The Persians used it in textiles, tilework, and miniature painting for centuries before it travelled the Silk Road to Kashmir and eventually became what the West calls the paisley. I wear this history lightly on this ring, pressing a single Boteh into the crown of a slim 9ct yellow gold band so it is always present but never insistent. The band is 2mm wide with a rounded D-profile, comfortable for all-day wear and easy to stack with other pieces. The outer face carries a soft satin finish so it develops a quiet patina and does not compete with polished statement rings when worn together. The Boteh sits at twelve o'clock, centred and precise, with just enough relief to reward close attention. This is the ring for every day: the one you put on first and notice last, the one that is simply always there. Materials: 9ct yellow gold, satin outer finish, high-polish inner band
Boteh motif in low sculptural relief, hand-finished The Boteh motif has been part of Persian decorative language for at least two thousand years, appearing in Achaemenid stonework and Safavid textiles before its Silk Road journey to the wider world. This ring returns it to its Persian origin. Made to order in Birmingham's Jewellery Quarter. Lead time 4 to 6 weeks. Available in UK ring sizes H to R. Supplied with a cultural story card.
