We drew the Hodhod Roundel the way a Sassanian silversmith drew a bird: in strict profile, crest raised, a ribbon lifting from its neck, and gave it the frame those craftsmen gave their kings, a ring of pearls, here a single unbroken line of flush-set diamonds. The bird carries no stones. Its tail breaks the circle, because a guide does not stay inside the frame. Turn it over and the pierced girih lattice closes the hollow of the bird, a private geometry against the skin.
