The Story

The tulip does not ask permission to love.

In Persian verse, لاله (Laleh) has kept vigil for centuries - the flower whose crimson cup carries a single drop of devotion at its heart. Hafez wrote of it. Weavers mapped it across Safavid carpets. It is the bloom that does not grow for decoration, but for meaning.

I designed Laleh to hold a vivid pear-cut ruby in six prongs shaped as tulip petals, each one a gesture rather than a mechanism. The gem is the colour of the flower. The story is older than the ring.

The Design

Hero stone: Pear-cut ruby, 1.0–1.4ct, vivid crimson, heat-treated, Burmese or Mozambican origin

Setting: Six hand-shaped tulip-petal prongs, tapering to fine points, cradling the ruby with a silhouette that reads as a flower from above

Band: Slender knife-edge shank, polished, tapering elegantly toward the setting

Accent option: Two round brilliant diamond shoulders (0.05ct total), bezel-set - available at an additional cost

Metal & Pricing

18ct Yellow Gold - warm, complements the ruby beautifully - from £2,800

Platinum - cooler tone, allows the ruby colour to fully dominate - from £3,200
